Via Lactea
Via Lactea is a black granite quarried in Brazil, closely related to (and often compared with) Black Galaxy, featuring a deep black background sprinkled with golden and white speckles. Geologically it is an igneous stone whose sparkle comes from tiny reflective mineral inclusions set in a dark feldspar-and-pyroxene matrix. The name is Latin/Italian for 'Milky Way,' describing the galaxy-like scatter of bright flecks. Stone reads differently in person — full slabs vary in movement and tone from any single swatch, so we'll pull the actual slab for you to see before anything is cut.
