Andes Black

Quartzite

Andes Black

Andes Black is a Brazilian quartzite carried by MSI, quarried in Brazil and prized for its dramatic black background crossed by bold white veins. It originated as quartz-rich sandstone that metamorphosed under deep heat and pressure into a recrystallized quartzite, giving it greater hardness and far better scratch and etch resistance than granite. The 'Andes' name evokes the rugged grandeur of the Andes mountains, though the stone itself comes from Brazilian quarries rather than the Andean range. Stone reads differently in person — full slabs vary in movement and tone from any single swatch, so we'll pull the actual slab for you to see before anything is cut.
