Calacatta Montreal is a Brazilian quartzite offered by MSI, quarried in Brazil and characterized by a harmonious blend of white and gray tones with a refined vein structure reminiscent of Calacatta marble. It is a metamorphic quartzite that formed when quartz sandstone recrystallized under heat and pressure into a dense, hard surface with strong scratch and etch resistance, outperforming granite. The trade name marries 'Calacatta' (for the marble-like appearance) with 'Montreal' as an evocative label rather than a geographic source.
